Ah, summer... Sandy beaches, swimming pools, ice cream, cookouts, and live music. Below are my picks for live summer shows. I know there are literally thousands of live shows that belong here but this post would be a mile long, so I will just share the ones I really like. ♪♫
Dave Edmunds live at the Freilichtbühne Loreley, an amphitheater located in St. Goarshausen, Germany. What's interesting is the amphitheater was built on Loreley, a 132-meter-high, steep slate rock. Lots of cool rock 'n roll sounds from that great summer show. And you can't go wrong with a Rockpalast gig, right? What a sound system!
The Smithereens were the band to see over the summer. I sure miss these guys. I have the live recording of this show on DVD somewhere and it is in much better quality. If I find it, I will upload it to YouTube and post it here.
Remember Haircut 100? A new wave pop sensation from the '80s! Their posters were plastered on every teenage girl's wall in the 1980s. Pure pop bliss!
Those are just a few shows that I like. If only we could transport ourselves to a moment in time where such events took place. I missed out on so many shows. Thankfully, there is YouTube. YouTube does its job of bringing live shows right to your living room. Although it's not the same as being there, it's better than nothing! While I cannot go back in time, I am grateful for the experiences I have had and I try to make the most of my days. As I leave you, I will conclude with a quote by Alice Morse Earle, "The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present." 🎁
