Good-bye summer, hello fall... Cayucas, an indie pop band from Santa Monica, CA, went on tour with Echo & the Bunnymen this summer. Two days after the fall season began, the tour ended. A great way to cap off a rocking summer with Echo & the Bunnymen and their melodic surf rock opening act, Cayucas.
Cayucas, formerly Oregon Bike Trails, includes Zach Yudin and his twin brother Ben Yudin on guitar. There was something deeper than woody bike paths in the northwest in the songs of the band. As a result, they settled on the name Cayucas, inspired by Cayucos, a small little beach town in San Luis Obispo County, California. Cayuca's fourth album, Blue Summer, hits all the right notes. Songs like "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah," and "California Girl" are like sweet-spun candy floss at the fair. You can't stop eating it, it's so good. It's impossible not to lose yourself in the melodies on Blue Summer, which you'll find yourself singing in the car and shower. Cayucas bring a Beach Boys vibe to all their albums.
