A few days ago, I celebrated my birthday. I cannot believe it has been a year since my birthday. Seems like only yesterday when I made last year's birthday post: Recapturing my youth.... Like every birthday, the day was met with many thoughtful greetings, cake, and-- gifts! I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers with a balloon attached, a box of chocolates, and a teddy bear. Along with the $50.00 Amazon.com gift card, I also received an ultra cool iHome mirror with Bluetooth. What a cool idea to listen to some beats before you go out.
My musical mirror has been a joy to use. I like the sound of iHome products. You get high-quality sound at a fraction of the cost, and the speakers are housed inside a portable mirror. Everybody could use a mirror when one isn't nearby, and it's easy to carry around on a trip. It can also run for 20 hours on a single charge, or you can plug it in all the time. ♪♫

No matter what presents I receive, just the acknowledgement of my big day is enough for me. Even if nobody remembered my birthday, I would not be bothered. The world has so many people who don't know a soul, and so their big day goes unnoticed. Thus, I consider myself lucky to have friends and family who acknowledge my special day. My birthday wish is that Covid continues to follow its path and becomes endemic by this spring as some are predicting it will. Honestly, I think people are tired and ready to move on. I know I am! Going out without fear of contracting a virus will be nice. I know it can never be eradicated, but if it isn't a constant concern anymore, that's all I care about.
I miss live music, and God willing, Covid will not ruin my Joe Jackson concert in June. My Adam Ant show isn't occurring anytime soon, and the vast majority of his fans are demanding a refund right now. What's even scarier is that one woman called the venue's box office and was told the show was done. AXS.com still has my event listed. I'd be more concerned if the page on AXS.com was completely removed. However, my event page is no longer available on Stubhub.com or Ticketmaster.com. All I can do now is wait.
Recently, I have seen more and more concert tour ads. Due to the plummeting case numbers, I think events will continue to increase. Could we be transitioning to endemicity or is there more to come from Covid-19? The start of 2022 felt lighter to me. It doesn't seem as dreary as going into 2021 followed by months of gloom and doom. Delta was far worse than Omicron. "That which does not kill us makes us stronger," Friedrich Nietzsche once said. The conclusion is that going through such a crisis has made us stronger and taught us how to adapt to different situations. A hurricane, tornadoes, and now a pandemic have all happened to me.
It hasn't been easy by any means. I have never experienced anything like this before, and I never expected to. It has been exhausting and stressful to deal with the restrictions for so long. I keep thinking about all the things that I will do after the pandemic. I will never take anything for granted in life after experiencing this. I will be more appreciative of what I once did. It will be nice to simply walk into my bank without an appointment, or to go out to eat without having to wear a mask. In New York, the indoor mask-or-vaccine mandate ended on February 10th, but there will still be a requirement for students and staff to wear masks. I feel sorry for kids today. School is hard enough without having to wear a mask all day. Bless their hearts.
Sorry about all the Covid talk. It's just something we've all been dealing with, so it always seems to make its way into my posts. I will take full advantage of my iHome mirror today since it is a non-work day. I would like to hear Guster's album Lost and Gone Forever on it. This will be much more fun to use on a big night out, which I haven't had since before Covid. See?? There it is again! lol... Okay, I'm going to leave this post here now so that Covid cannot creep back in.
Have a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow!
